PUBLIC SECTOR COMMITTEE
 

Objectives

1. Foster good public sector financial management. Public sector, inter alia, includes parastatals.

2. Foster regular and up-to-date public sector financial reporting that accords with relevant accounting standards

3. Foster regular audit of the public sector accounts.

Specific Terms of Reference:

1. To promote the role of the accountancy profession and its responsibilities in the public sector.

2. To promote high quality standards and legislation.

3. To enhance cooperation and communication between the profession, the public sector and others stakeholders e.g.

   1. The Public Accounts Committee.

   2. The Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences (DCEO).
       

4. To prepare on behalf on LIA, on a timely basis, meaningful and valuable comments on all pronouncements affecting the public sector.

5. To assist in the development and delivery of the public sector curriculum.

6. To assist in the implementation of International Public Sector Accounting Standards.

7. To promote good governance in the public sector, together with effective Internal Controls and Risk Management.

8. To promote the use of public sector auditing standards.
